Trainers, sneakers, kicks or creps. Whatever terminology you use, one thing stays the same. They can be functional- used for running and sport. They are super comfortable and versatile. Or they can be smart, cool and define your style from the next person.

An up and coming brand that is stealing the show for me is Axel Arigato.

Swedish outfitters Axel Arigato have gone from strength to strength since forming in the summer of 2014. In the early days building their collection a design a week and using social media to create a buzz and strong following.

After starting as an internet only retailer they have recently opened their first flagship store right here in London Soho, and Harvey Nichols has an exclusive partnership to sell them across the UK.

What first caught my eye was their exotic crafted leather designs, snake, crocodile styles which I know sound 'a bit flashy' but take a look, they actually add a real simplistic quality and much-needed point of difference to other trainer brands.
Uses of suede and fine Italian leather in patent, standard and matte finishes- matte being the favourite,  along with a quality handcrafted construction, give the brand a very good heritage.

Trainer brands can sometimes over complicate matters but Arigato's brand image is simple, clean and very modern. Almost futuristic. You could compare them to Common Projects but in my opinion, I love the brand image of Arigato more, and they do it so much better. This is so clear even by comparing the two different brand websites.

They are a leading brand, at the moment the creative direction has been to reinvent the laces area of trainers. Take a look at the Clean 90 zip, my favourites. This is a brand constantly looking to revolutionise the classic sneaker.
But they haven't stuck with shoes, moving into clothing, womenswear and leather goods like wallets and card holders.

Next time you're in London look them up. Thank me later. And keep an eye out for them in my future posts.

Urghh well is that the summer over?

I really hope not. You've not even seen my pasty chicken legs yet!!!

I'd like to say that it's been the weather that's been holding me back from getting out there and exploring. But it hasn't just been the rain. Creating and showing new content, I've discovered, can be really hard to keep up.
I've been thinking a lot recently about what is important to me. I'm so excited to have finally booked to go to New York, I can't contain my excitement. And this is a very early warning but there is going to be a lot of content based around that trip, you're going to get sick to death of my pictures, posts, just general open jaw-ness.
As I am spending a lot of time researching where I want to go and planning my trip, I've been spending the same amount of time thinking about what the hell can I post about before I go. I can't just sit around and wait for that I need to push on and share more, now.
That's when I knew I needed to celebrate the now, where I live. And use that as the back drop. Far away from the dreams of skyscrapers and the city. England, its towns, its landscapes and my home. This will be my series over August.

Looking for inspiration in day to day life can be difficult. I am very susceptible to feelings of inspiration in everything. I am also very lazy.
But one thing that really knocked me off my feet recently was Dunkirk. Christopher Nolan has always been one of my favourites directors, Inception, Batman and one of my favourite films Interstellar.
Dunkirk is a movie that perfectly emotes equal measures of terror, suspense and joy. It's soul gripping.
The sheer fear placed on the viewer as the Luftwaffe thunders down from the sky is immense, utterly unparalleled to the real experiences of those brave men on that beach.

Beaches and seafronts can be where amazing family memories are made, but they can also be incredibly lonely, abandoned beautiful landscapes.
I had never been to Clevedon Pier before now, but it really is a fantastic place, right on our door step. And your thoughts can't help but drift to remembering just how lucky we are.

Only big boys wear pink.

It's a great colour, don't be shy! Here are my tips for wearing it this summer...

-Pink is a pastel colour, perfect for the summer. It's subtle and you can easily pair it with more basic colours that everyone will have in their wardrobe, navy and grey.

-Try not to make too much of a statement with bold primary pink. It can be done, but it's a very specialist colour. It would have to be a high fashion piece, and you would have to be extremely confident in wearing it.

-Use pink as the perfect alternative to keep your t-shirt collection looking fresh. If you find a really nice tee with a printed logo, go pink instead of the usual white to add that point of difference.

-Perfect addition to a tailoring look. Like my outfit above, shirt and trousers from Reiss, it's a perfect way to mix up your summer tailoring stance. Pink suits were huge for Topman and Gucci this season but for a more affordable and less eye-catching adjustment, add a dusty pink tee under the suit. Don't forget for those summer weddings the pink tie and pocket square, perfect with navy and grey slim fit suits.

-Don't tread carefully. Go pink! Soft pink leather trainers are everywhere this summer. But don't over complicate it. It works best when the focus is on the soft quality leather in that pink colour. Take a look at the offerings from Burberry and Axel Arigato. (Going to tell you a bit about these guys soon)

Rebirth Of The Cool is a way to express myself, a way to be creative. It's me being brave.

I've always been passionate about fashion, and have been lucky enough to work for some amazing brands and inspiring people. From the side street boutiques, through high street retail and into the two most prestigious department stores in the world. But recently I came to a crossroads where I wasn't enjoying my life choices and wanted to go in a new direction.

I want to show you my style, my cool. I want to showcase some exciting new brands, celebrate great British design and take you across the world with me.

Viva la revolucion.

Bristol is very famous for its graffiti and I know this isn't it's pride and joy but I loved the colours and chaotic nature of this path. It reminded me of my trip to Berlin, take a look in my travel section.

With this shoot, I'm highlighting a little-known fusion French outfitters April77. Record label and clothing brand.

"Our clothing is music, and music lives on our clothing."

Formed in 2002 the brand make incredible denim. Very rock-a-billy, American Western Aesthetic. With a great plectrum holder detail on the right hip pocket.

The leather biker jacket is a real favourite. A classic black leather biker jacket is a rocker staple. Cut high on the body to give it a vintage and statement heavy look, perfect for those gig nights.

All clothing, April77
Shoes & Sunglasses, Reiss
